Otherwise know as the open or honeycomb brick bond. This type of bond is used as a decorative stretcher method which leaves spaces between bricks.
The easiest pattern and most stable - is constructed using quarter brick spaces between bricks, although this is sometimes half brick spaces depending on the purpose of the wall.
In order to offer some stability the last two spaces at each end of the corner wall should be narrower. This type of bond also requires movement joints and piers (double thickness supports butted against the courses).
What is a brick wall built using the stretcher method of bond?

Quite simply the bricks are laid length ways but half overlapping each of the bricks on the previous course. Each vertical joint of the lower course centres on the bricks above and below.
This type of construction gives you a wall that is about 100mm think and is otherwise known as a half brick wall.
You will need 54 bricks per 0.8 sq m.
