The raised head screw is principally utilised for fixing door handle plates, hinges and decorative hardware.
The round head screw is usually used for fixing hardware fittings without countersunk holes. The head of the nail protrudes from the fitting.

Probably the most widely used screw in production. The cross slot within the head fits a philips screw driver. The benefit of this is that it prevents slippage during tightening.
This is one of the most commonly used screws for fixing timber. The countersunk element enables a screw head fit flush to the timber. This is always a bonus, as anybody who has caught their pants on a screw will testify!
