When we heard about the Dulux Paint Pod Roller System in the office we through up a collective cheer. No more loading of rollers with excess paint and no more cleaning. Yipeee.

Did it live up to expectations when we tested it? Well absolutely yes and no….

We only gave it a brief run around (we’re due to do more comprehensive testing in a couple of weeks which we will report and review) but first impressions are ok.

We have summarised the key features and factoids as follows:

The Mira Everclear is a shower handset specially made for hard water areas where showers have a tendency to fur up quickly.

image

Everclear reduces limescale build up with an innovative self drain mechanism which kicks in when the shower is turned off.

This shower head is also self cleaning thanks to pins which push through the shower nozzles, either automatically or manually activated, so you never need to scrub again!

Anything, that saves scrubbing and cleaning of scale has to be worth consideration….. We’re actually planning to purchase this product for a new development - will report back with a more in depth review thereafter. Keep your eyes peeled!!!!

We recently had some minor building work done to our home. A skip was deposited on our front driveway and removed at the end of the project - end of story? I’m afraid not. The skip removal company managed to drag the skip along damaging a large section of the drive way surface. As the skip removal company refused to take responsibility and I lacked the time or energy to sue, this ended up being an infuriating/expensive episode.

It’s with this experience in mind that I took a closer look at a skip alternative called the Hippobag. Described as “cost-effective, hassle-free and eco-friendly alternative to the traditional skip”  - the Hippobag is also a little bit kinder to your driveway!!!

AEG has unveiled the latest power tool in its recently relaunched range – the Ultra Compact 12v Drill Driver (BS12C).

image

For such a small piece of kit, this particular power tool has plenty of power and it’s compact size makes it perfect for confined areas.

AEG claim that the Drill Driver gives users the longest run time, strength and best performance of any 12v drill driver currently available on the market. Which are big plus points in my book.

Wickes have recently released a handy guide called “How to Cope with Building Works”.

Wickes hope that this document will help ease the classically tense builder/customer relationship!
The easy to read guide offers simple and sensible hints and tips to help the customer cope with the 13 most common home improvements.

These include, everything from decorating, rewiring and tiling to extensions.

For example, a customer might not know those little things (that are obvious to tradesmen) like ensuring a clear access route to the roof space if you are fitting a new boiler or even improving those classic customer annoyances like paint fumes by simply placing half a raw onion in the corner of the room.

The free, 28-page, full colour guide is downloadable online at Wickes.
