Home Office Design Tips

Working from home can be the most liberating and enjoyable experience there is. No more commuting, no more politics, no more body odours from colleagues and an opportunity to create a working environment that fits you like a glove.

Here are my top tips for getting your home office right first time.

1. Identify a space that is as isolated from the rest of the house as possible. Crucial if you have a family and want to keep focus.

2. Think about how easy it will be to get broadband access.

3. Create an environment with plenty of natural light and ambient light such as lamps and spotlights

4. Choose a room that is well ventilated but retains heat.

5. Select neutral colours for the walls. You need something that offers a sense of calm.

6. Choose office furniture that lasts. Chipboard tables and shelves maybe cheap but simply don’t cut the mustard.

6. Most important of all, select as good an office chair as you can afford. Very important to maintain good posture.
