Invisible Balustrade

If you’re either replacing a creaking balustrade or need a new one for a loft conversion you might want to consider the highly contemporary option of an “Invisible Balustrade”.

Some points to consider:

1. Glass balustrading creates the illusion of space and light.

2. You will need to ensure that the glass meets Building Regulations in as far as safety is concerned.

3. It might be necessary to fit a fire door at the top of the staircase or maybe the bottom.

4. You may need fireproof glass which can be expensive.

5. Check with your architect and building regs specialist as to whether this is suitable and permissable.
